Dr condones cannabis

Dr Ryan on a house call to Ms Shelagh Reilly

Last night Doctor Ryan was taken in for questioning for prescribing cannabis to one of his patients.

Ms Sheila Reilly who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 10 years ago was receiving the Class B drug from her GP, Doctor Ryan.

Doctor Ryan was found by Ban Garda Sullivan in the hills of Ballykissangel picking the illegal substance in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A Garda spokesman reported that Ms Reilly is the aunt of Ban Garda Sulllivan.

Earlier in the week local vet Siobhan Meeghan came across the plant and sent it away for tests.

Garda Sullivan broght Doctor Ryan to the station and kept him overnight. Questioning started first thing on Sunday morning.

"I've spent alot of time researching and like the House of Lords I believe that under certain conditions

doctors should be allowed to prescribe cannabis for pain relief" said Doctor Ryan.

Reiterating his point Ms Reilly said. "I could not imagine living without the relief cannabis gives me". Continuing she said "The only crime Doctor Ryan has committed was to make me well".

Doctor Ryan denies growing the plant and insists he only knew where it was because Ms Reilly told him where to go.

Ms Reilly told The Examiner that she told Doctor Ryan where to go. "I've Multiple Sclerosis. I don't smoke the stuff for pleasure" she said.

After several hours of questioning Doctor Michael Ryan was released without charge.

When asked about the arrest Garda Sullivan said that she suffered short term memory loss and couldn't remember anything.

It's the last pub quiz of the series so don't miss it. Don't worry though, Fitzgerald's will still open for many more pub quizzes in the future. So get yourselves down to Fitzgerald's to see just how closely you watched the last ever episode of Ballykissangel.
