Last
week a faith healer arrived in Ballykissangel to heal the
sick, overcome disability and restore faith.
Ms Consuela Dunphy and her entourage of gospel singers and
musicians stayed for three days performing twice a day.
At first
many residents were wary of Ms Dunphy. Dr Ryan was particularly
wary of her powers and promises. "I think it's a disgrace.
These people are a menace. She's a fraud and she's telling
people with serious injuries that they'll get better"
Dr Ryan said.
The Church too was upset with Ms Dunphy's performance. "She'll
have to be confronted" said Fr Mac. Fr Vincent was in
accordance with his Parish Priest. "She gives faith a
bad name" he said.
Despite
Fr Vincent's cynicism and apprehension

Garda
Sullivan and he were scene entering the marquee for the Saturday
Matinee to see Ms Dunphy in action.
Before the performance Garda Sullivan reassured the concerned
residents that if she thought that an offence was being committed
then she would pass it on to Cilldargan.
"This
is ridiculous" she said on exiting the show and continuing
she said "but no offence has been committed".
Liam and Donal were more positive. They decided to make the
most of the faith healer and went along with their lottery
tickets. "If she's going to perform miracles then I hope
it will happen to me" Donal said.
Fr
Mac decided to see for himself and went along to a show to
see if his ostio arthritis could be cured. Witnesses said
that Fr Mac limped up to the stage but walked back down.
It looks like the many told miracles of this faith healer
looks set to continue. But certainly no miracles occurred
for Fr Mac and Liam and Donal.
