The Head Teachers post in Ballykissangel National School has
become vacant with the retirement of the present Head. As The
Examiner goes to press it has been confirmed that three people
have been shortlisted by the Board of Governers and the Education
Board.
A woman
candidate from Dublin is expected in Ballykissangel to be
interviewed by the selection panel at the weekend. A Christian
Brother - Brother Dominic - is also to be interviewed. Br.
Dominic played hurling to county level in his younger days.
He is noted for his passion for the sport.
The non-drinking-Irish
speaking-hurling-playing Brother may have the temprement for
the job of headmaster, "A winning team works on perfect discipline."
he told the Examiner. Then went into great detail about the
place he played in a county final in the 1970's.
The third
candidate prefers the more reflective sport of fishing.

Brendan
Kearney has been a teacher in the national school for many
years. He is known in the village and is a trusted member
of the community.
He could
have been a teacher at a college rather than a primary school
having gained a Higher Diploma in Literature in Trinity. Some
say he is unorthodox in his teaching style. He has been a
great boon to the village and the school. While The Examiner
wishes all three candidates the best of luck, in this Editors
opinion there is only one suitable candidate for the job.
Brendan
is our man!
