Ballykissangle Examiner
Firtzgerald's for sale

Fitzgerald's Bar

Ballykissangel’s favourite bar is up for sale. Fitzgerald’s in the centre of the village was put on the market this week by the present owner Mr Brian Quigley.

The sale follows the death of Garda Egan, Mr. Quigley’s son in law. Mr. Quigley’s daughter Niamh, Garda Egan’s widow, ran the pub. Following her husband’s death it is thought that Mrs Egan may wish to take a short break from living in Ballykissangel.

There are two potential buyers for the pub. A retired civil servant is planning to make a substantial offer for Fitzgerald’s. He told The Ballykissangel Examiner that if the price was right, he would plan to upgrade the pub and convert the living area into holiday accommodation.

Another prospective buyer Mrs. Oonagh Dooley, has had little to say about her plans for Fitzgerald’s. However she was seen getting a feel for the place by helping out behind the bar. Readers of The Examiner will be fully briefed on any new residents in BallyK.

Learn to Drive

"Learn to drive with a qualified instructor!" That was the uncomprising message from the "From L to Here" Driving School, Dromain.

Chief Instructor Matt Hall warned of the pressures on family especially when a father tries to teach his daughter.

"It can often end in harsh words and fall outs. One young woman recently ended up leaving home after cross words with her father at a crossroads. So our advice is get help from a professional."
