Strange Tales

Prepare to be scared.

Chloe Paighton

My mum and my dad had just bought 6.5 acres of land in Devon. We had decided to go over there and camp for a week in the summer holidays. When we got there, we put our tent up and had our tea. By this time it was getting quite late. The sun had gone down and the stars had just come out. We had just gotten into the tent and were drifting off to sleep when something pounced on top of the tent. My mum and I screamed and dad was trying to defend us, so he got out of the tent and ran to the barn to get an axe to threaten this thing to get off of our land. When Dad returned from the barn with his axe in his hand he saw the attacker jump back on to the tent to try and attack me and my Mum. My Dad by this time was running down the field with the axe in his hand shouting at this creature to get off the tent and leave me and mum alone. It hopped off the tent and ran to my Dad, at this moment my Dad collided with this thing and both off them fell to the moist grass. Dad grabbed hold of it by the neck to stop it from moving. By this time my mum and I jumped out of the tent to try and save my dad. Dad had dropped the axe so Mum picked it up at swung the scary creature. As my Mum swung at the thing, the axe went straight through it, as if it was made of thin air, and at that moment Mum and I knew it was not human. It turned around and stared at me and Mum with big bulging blood red eyes. My dad could not do anything at this time because he had fainted from such a shock. A second later it tried to grab hold of me and my mum tried to hit it with the axe, but again the axe went straight through him, but we think he felt it because it just looked at me and Mum then turned around and and ran off. About 2 minutes later me and Mum were trying to put dad in the car to take him to hospital because we new he was still alive because he was still breathing. By the time we reached the hospital Dad had woken up. So instead of going to the hospital we decided to go to the police station and tell them what had happened, the policeman we told believed us and went over for a search, but ever since that night we have never been back to that spooky place not even to sell it. We went to see the person who lived next door to it and she told us it was the ghost of the old killer who used to live there. This lady knew this because she was his widow, and he had visited her before to. Make your own decision whether it is true or not.
