Audience Council for Nothern Ireland

Audience Council for Northern Ireland

Coming up

BBC ONE and TWO

The Trust has launched a public consultation as part of a service review of BBC ONE, BBC TWO, BBC FOUR and the Red Button.

The Audience Council will seek the views of local audiences on these services in coming weeks. Key areas of interest may include representation of Northern Ireland on the networks, local ‘opt out’ programmes and views on the quality and distinctiveness of programmes.

If you would like to register your interest in sharing your views on these services with the Audience Council, please do so here>>

Editorial Standards

Our discussions with audiences indicate considerable strength of feeling, and a range of perspectives, on issues of taste and standards in broadcasting. The Trust has recently responded to a BBC Executive report on this subject.

The BBC's Editorial Guidelines are currently being rewritten and new Guidelines will be published in 2010.

The Trust is interested to know what audiences think about the new Guidelines before they are finally published. It is consulting publicly to ask audiences what they think the BBC has got right in the draft of the new Guidelines, what it's got wrong and what the BBC should do to improve them?

If you have views on matters of taste and standards and you would like to register your interest in sharing these with the Audience Council, please do so here>>

Project Canvas

Project Canvas is a proposal which would enable viewers to watch on-demand services, such as BBC iPlayer and other internet content, subsciption-free via television sets.

The Audience Council has responded to the first stage of the Trust’s consultation on this proposal as well as offering further advice on the additional information subsequently provided by the Executive.

The Trust will publish its provisional conclusions in the autumn and this will be followed by a four week period of public consultation.
