Phil Lucas generously shares with us the six tunes that are making the hairs on the back of his neck stand up this weather... 1. Tadeo - Monochromia (CMYK) Rolling techno at its best from Twitch favourite Tadeo. There is so much good music coming out of Spain at the minute with labels like CMYK, Cyclical Tracks, Apnea and Net28 putting out excellent releases consistently. Tadeo is an artist who never fails to deliver, his recent album on Net28 seemed to go under the radar slightly but is definately worth checking out. This track is proper big room techno with lots of breaks and a big synth-line that builds relentlessly throughout the track and then it breaks down to almost a stop before builds again with an added groove. 2. Luciano & Quenum - Orange Mistake (Cadenza) Classic minimal from Luciano and Quenum, back when Luciano was making more stripped back and soulful productions, out of nowhere he released this electronic funk masterpiece. This track has everything. electronic rave stabs, glitched out percussion and more. 3. Pitto - This Feelin' (Rejected) Party house which has been charted by everyone from Joris Voorn to the cheesier end of DJ's over the last few months and is finally available. The clever sample and reversed breakdown make this track a dancefloor monster. 4. Simon Baker - Way Out Of My Head, Julien Chaptal Remix (20/20 Vision) Tripped out vocal tech-house from two reliable producers, Simon Baker and Julien Chaptal. Chaptal has been putting out great music on the Remote Area label and this remix has lots of swirling vocal lines and the heavy percussion adds a real driving element to the track. 5. Surgeon - Floorshow 1.2 (Counterbalance) Classic techno from the Surgeon, this track was recently selected by Efdemin for his first ever mix album, released on Curle. Its got almost breakbeat percussion and a smoothness that is similar to the recent Ellen Allien and Apparat album. 6. Soul Patrol - Love Variations, Part 1 (Sushitech) Soul Patrol have previously released tracks under a couple of other names on Jazzanova's Compost imprint, this is in a a similar vein with a broken-beat structure and is beutifully layered. It blends really well with techno and has enough going on to hold the dancefloor at peak times. | ||
