The latest dancefloor diva to lay out their six pack for public inspection is Timmy Stewart. Check out what he's listening to at the moment... Moodymanc - Hangover - 2020 Vision More ace house music from the ever-reliable 2020 camp, as one quarter of the Sound system (Dubble D) pays homage to KDJ and the sound of Detroit. Another solid 6 tracker for the third part in the series and this track just jumped out on first inspection. It's always nice to hear electronic music that packs a punch but also keeps one eye firmly on the funk and that's basically what you got here. Robyn - Cobrastyle (Samim Remix) - Konichiwa Samim comes out of hiding to give Robyn a good spanking and brings an annoying chart record to the floors of underground house clubs but with great bumping techy groove. Reminiscent of early Jesse Rose and also Dave Taylor in his Solid Groove guise, this mix stays on the right side of wonky house music so never becomes annoying but is able to stand out from the crowd. Good to see Samim back at last! Smith & Selway - Push Factor (Oxia Remix) - Sci & Tec The undisputed kings of big room techno deliver once again with this powerful main room weapon. Maybe not destined to be as huge as Total Departure but that was always going to be difficult to top. This def hits the mark though and should pick up plays from a broad range of djs. The original is great but I'm swayed towards Oxia's mix as he's put such a great shuffle on his drums and stayed pretty close to the sounds in the original mix anyway. Morgan Geist - Detroit - C2rmx1 By Carl Craig - Environ On paper this is like a dream to me One of my favourite artists gets the remix treatment from another of my favourite artists and on the label that's home to Metro Area. Glad to say it really lives up to the hype and has been ripping the roof off everywhere that I've played it to date. Electronic music with soulCarl Craig really is a genius in my book. Jet Project - Do It Like This (Fergie Rmx) - Jet Project & Friends Pt 1 Fergie gets to grips with our Do It Like This track and completely blows us away in the process with this slick piece of jackin techno. It honestly wouldn't sound out of place on a label like Drum Code. This totally destroyed the Kitten a few wks back! Cheers Ferg, this is def gonna surprise a few people. Gerd, The Houze Vectors - We Bring U Muzik - Lifeworld Acid, hip house vocals and modern drum programming and production values = Weapon! This sounds like a lost acid house classic from the vaults but has all the power of a brand new techno record. If like me you yearn for more decent vocals in house and techno tracks then you'll also know how rare they are. Well look no further cause here is one that will sound relevant but also retro for a long while to come. | ||
