Six Pack
Nik Muzka, 23rd August
Check out the six tracks making up a highly select playlist on the iPod or mp3-playing device belonging to none other than Mr. Nik Muzka...

Like Woah - OSOF
This track is of the second EP from Sydney electro/house duo Like Woah. The EP is entitled 'Raw/War' and it's the 10th release on Bang Gang 12 Inches. This track is one of those mid tempo tunes that fits perfectly in a warm set or when playing a bar or back room set. Very 80's sounding synth and bass with punchy drums sounding like its sampled a John Carpenter soundtrack.

Kraak and Smaak - Plastic People (All Good Funk Alliance rmx)
Another funktatsic release from Jalapeno records by the Dutch duo Kraak & Smaak. These guys always deliver a fat slab of future funk and this is no exception. Alongside the original is a number of remixes and was difficult to pick between the Deetron dub and the All Good Funk Alliance which ended being my pick for this 6 pack because of its swirling synths and filtered vocal gliding over an old school cow bell. Perfect for both house and breaks sets.

Damon Albarn - Monkey's World
This is the opening track from the latest project from Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The album is the soundtrack to an opera the duo put on last year based on the ancient chinese tale 'Monkey' which the hit TV show was based on of the same name. It's not really the track I like but the whole project and would highly recommend watching the documentary about how it was put together from the very start. You can also check Jamie's drawings from the opera in this years olympics.

Funkasaurus - Kebappa
Another solid breaks release from the Belfast duo which is due on I-Breaks in October. The guys do what they do best in providing lucky dancefloors with a butt-shaking boogie monster thats guaranteed to get everyone on the dancefloor. Well done lads, 2 thumbs up.

Isaac Hayes - Tough Guy's theme
With one of the biggest names in soul passing away last week it's only right to feature one of his amazing tracks. It's a tough job to pick one track when his back catalogue is so packed full of quality but I've went for this gem of the black moses album. Ever since I first started Dj-ing I have been playing tracks from Isaac Hayes and long may this continue. Do your ears a favour and get some Isaac in your collection.

Nadsroic - Step Back
My number one track this week is an absolute corker. In a market overrun by cheap electro house and bland minimal its great to hear fresh music being produced and one such place is within the Scottish collective 'Lucky Me' which is home to Djs, producers, Mcs, Vocalists, Artists, Photographers and more. In the past I have featured a track by Rustie from the collective and this time it is the duo of Ciorsdan Brown and Hudson Mohawk. Hudson has been making some of the freshest beats in the UK and has recently signed to warp while Ciorsdan has signed to Optimos label which shows the calibre of these artists. If you like your music fresh and original go check out the Lucky Me collective and you wont be dissapointed.
