Timmy Stewart is a man of rare taste. And we don't mean rare in that insulting Northern Irish way. We mean it's rarefied. But don't take our word for it, check out his latest Six Pack recommendations... Let's Go Outside - I'll Lick Your Spine (Repeat Repeat Remix) - Soma Taken from the album 'A Picnic With The Hunters', this single entitled 'I'll Lick Your Spine' came with a whole host of great remixes. The one that really caught my attention though was this one from Repeat Repeat, which is just ace, weird, tripped out house music and is easily one of the best female vocal tracks around right now. Droido - Smile for Me (Chaim Remix) - Missive Glasgow's Andy Graham dons his Droido cap for Missive and gets the remix treatment from Israel's Chaim. This is a great example of where good house music is at for me these days. It's got the right amount of funk for deep house heads but also enough glitch to keep minimal lovers interested too. A great vocal hook and a Middle Eastern horn sample are also used to devastating effect. Le Club - Un Fait Divers (Ivan Smagghe edit) - Barclay This is my blast from the past. Unsurprisingly, it was a top ten hit in France in 1982 and was given to me by Ewan Pearson when I asked him about it after hearing him use it on a Radio mix once. Apparently he had really wanted to use this as the intro on his Sci-Fi Hi-Fi compilation but the original artist couldn't be traced in order to license it. A real hidden gem and timeless classic that sounds great in all types of sets. Timmy Stewart - Maya - Elevation First part of my new release and follow up to the Stand Alone E.P. on Aruba's Elevation label and just about to get the remix treatment from my good friend Droido. It mixes afro style drums with techy sounds and a haunting chant to make for a spooky, drum laden club track. Oliver Huntemann - Zum Goldenen Handschuh - Confused Easily my favourite techno track at the minute Huntemann undoubtedly makes the biggest basslines in dance music right now and I'm glad to say that he applies that trademark here. The whole track just builds and builds with intensity into a massive wall of sound and has totally destroyed anywhere I've played it to date. Tim Fuller - The Slightest Touch (Chicken Lips Malfunction Remix) - Bombay Chicken Lips on fine form here as they produce this killer groove, part electro, part disco and a fitting accompaniment to Tim Fuller's slick vocals. This track, if dropped at the right time, can really ignite the party and is a great example of how if you combine the right vocal with the right groove something can be massive without sounding cheesy. | ||
