Derry trio Fighting With Wire have landed a major record deal with Atlantic Records. Rumours on the local circuit have proved to be true, as frontman Cahir O'Doherty has confirmed to ATL Online. Atlantic Records chief Craig Kallman was surfing a band promo website and online radio station, Shadowglobe, when he stumbled across the band's page and promptly flew the band and their current label Smalltown America (owned by Jetplane Landing's Andrew Ferris) to New York City to showcase. After playing five songs before a 40 strong industry audience the three piece were signed to the label which has been home to the likes of Led Zeppelin and Missy Elliott. "Its like being on a massive indie label" O'Doherty told ATL "really everything is on our side and everyone at Atlantic seems to really love music which makes us really hopeful". The band will still release the debut album 'Man vs Monster' on March 10th but will now be backed by some impressive marketing muscle. You can watch the band perform 'Everbody Needs a Nemesis on ATL TV this coming Monday on BBC 2NI, or you can take a sneaky look at our Youtube site. Fighting With Wire will also play the Limelight, Belfast tomorrow night along with And So I Watch You From Afar and Panama Kings. | ||
