John Sa Trinxa
Ibiza legend and full-time beach bum Jon Sa Trinxa is releasing a new compilation 'Tranquil' on June 7th on Azuli recordings. ATL Online slipped into some short shorts to chat to the man in the sand.

Let's get started then please Jon. What is your first musical memory?
Was it The Beatles - Day Tripper or Peter, Paul & Mary Puff the Magic Dragon? I must have been bouncing around in and out of the pram.

Choice! Have you ever played Ireland and if so where, when and how was it for you?
Dublin - Mulligan's I think; O'Connell Street Friendly and rowdy, I had a weekness for Guninnes and the lady with the emerald eyes.

What prompted you to get fully involved in dance music?
My Red Shoes. I fell into the rave scene in the late 80's and found myself playing in a field at sunrise. Smiling happy faces.

Loveliness. Next, what is the last piece vinyl you bought and is it going to finally pop it's wee plastic clogs soon?
The Dynamics Music- Big Single. A cover of Madonna's "Music", vibing it up in a cool reggae-disco style! Sounds so good you might be fooled it's actually some long-lost late 70s reggae gem that Madonna ended up re -mixing.

Best clubbing experience?
Driving miles to the infamous monthly monday night jams at the Zap in Brighton. Harvey, Choci & Rev. Small club wild people electric vibe. People from all over the UK would travel far and wide on a Monday night!!!!

I am sorry to inform you that your house is on fire, you can only carry one piece of vinyl or CD out, what will it be?
Space Tranquil Vol. 3 out on Azuli or The Move - Fire Brigade.

In terms of non dance music, what are you listening to at the mo?
Map Of Africa, a new cd from Harvey Bassett and Thom Bullock's Map Of Africa outfit on the super cool Whatever We Want label. Glorious druggy and dreamy mess of deluxe Balearic tapestries.

Do you have any famous DJ mates and if so who, and what are they really like? Go on you can tell us...
Jose Padilla, Café del Mar. Jose is charming, I've only seen the good side so you'll have to ask another DJ to dish out the dirt! Avoid drinking neat vodka!

Stuff Ministry and all that crap, what is really the best club in the world?
Yikes dangerous question, every DJ has his loyalties to the club he or she plays in. Mmm, Space Ibiza - the opening party for the people.

Your criminal record - whats the worst piece of music ever played out?
I was forced by my friend Tony, aka Goose, to play When Will I Be Famous by Bros. I demanded 5 pounds and covered my ears for the duration of the record, absolute torture. What could be worse? The Birdy Song...

Jeepers, you are truly an honest man. Right, give us your current top 5 and you are finally free to go, our balaeric brother...
1.DUB PISTOLS feat TERRY HALL - RAPTURE (PRINS THOMAS DISKOMIKS)
2 .MASHA QRELLA - DON'T STOP THE DANCE
3.DJ DISSE  - WALK ON THE WILDSIDE
4. OLLO - THE LUNATICS (HAVE TAKEN OVER THE ASYLUM
5. HENRIK SCHWARZ - IMAGINATION LIMITATION (MIX 3)
