Marco Freivogel (Exercise One)
As Exercise One release their debut album 'In Cars We Rust' on Mobilee next month, Marco Freivogel takes some precious time out for the rigorous ATL Q&A...

ATL: Hi, and how on earth are you today?
Spring is out in Berlin and what can I say. I feel fantastic. Now a very nice time starts!

ATL: Let's get started then. First musical memory?
Placido Domingo... My Dad used to take me in the Opera when I was 3 years old. And I was addicted to these opera singers.

ATL: Have you ever played Ireland and if so where, when and how was it for you?
No! Never! But I think it is on our Album tour schedule. Looking forward to go there. Plus I would love to see a bit of the country.

ATL: Now, what prompted you to get fully involved in dance music?
It has a lot to do with Berlin. I always made music but when I moved here 10 years ago I realized that life in Berlin is much easier. I got back into the club scene and this influenced me a lot. At the same time Ingo and I met, and we decided to start dance music.

ATL: What's been your best clubbing experience?
There are a lot. I still remember the good old techno clubs in Frankfurt. We drove there every weekend. We were young so it had an impact on me. But these days I really love Panorama Bar / Berghain, especially the Sunday sessions.

ATL: For non dance music, what are you listening to at the mo?
These days I listen a lot to Arthur Russel, especially to the album 'World of Echos'. On my turntable right now is a old Skinny Puppy 12. And  I just got the new Mark Templeton album 'Inland' on Anticipate, which I really enjoy listening to. I love its atmosphere.

ATL: So, do you have any famous DJ mates and if so, who, and what are they really like? Go on you can tell us...
Ha ha... ok... you wanna hear stories from the zombie room! But yes, there are some really good friends, who are very lovely and great to be with. But as always, I can't remember their names right now ; )

ATL: What is really the best club in the world?
Don't really wanna point one out. Cause there are so many. And everybody tries to be the best!

ATL: Your criminal record - whats the worst piece of music ever played out?
DJ Bobo.

ATL: Who is the best DJ in the world and why?
It's the DJ Team Carreras & Sherburne... 'cause they are insane plus they spin vinyl only and this in a very unique way. But they play only for very special Moments.

ATL: And when will we see you again then?
I hope soon -  keep an eye on our tour schedule!

ATL : Ok, giz your top five tunes and bugger off...
Sendai - System Policy (Peter Van Hoesen Remix)
Touane - Salty Peanuts (Jacopo Carreras Remix) / Lan Muzic
Maetrik - Envy / Dumb Unit
Exercise One - No News Today (Deadbeats Roller Dub) / Mobilee
Sian - World Within A Wolrd (Minilogue Remix) / Aus Music
