Legendary British techno label B12 are out to released a whopping seven volume double CD series fron their archives entitled The B12 Archives funnily enough. Label heads Steven Rutter and Mike Golding chat to ATL... Hi, and how the hell are you today? SR: Feeling good... just stuffed in a quarter pounder and chips... what more could you want!! MG: ...silence... Let's get started then. First musical memory? SR: I would say my step dad blasting out jeff Wayne's 'War of the Worlds' at full volume while I was cowering in my bed trying to sleep... terrifying for a little lad like me! MG: Boney-M. 'Brown Girl in the Ring' and 'Rivers of Babylon' when my parent used to play it. Ever played in Ireland and if so where, when and how was it for you? Yeah we played one this year - it was great and we wanna come back! What prompted you to get fully involved in dance music? SR: I started out at college when I bought 2 technics turntables and taught myself to scratch. I had a few mates that thought they were rappers. They were very so so wrong! MG: Going to the school disco with my sister. Last piece vinyl you bought and is it going to finally pop it's wee plastic clogs soon? SR: Do you know, I can't even remember it was that long ago. MG: Crystal Fake - Weekday Trip on Out of Orbit, if current sales are anything to go by then yes, but a very small number of people will always buy and use vinyl. Best clubbing experience? SR: I probably should not say, for legal reasons. MG: When I met my current girlfriend in one. Your house is on fire, you can only carry one piece of vinyl or CD out, what will it be? SR: Er I think it would have to be a Radiohead CD. Probably Hail to the Thief. MG: The greatest hits of techno 1988-1998 ;-) Non dance music, what are you listening to at the mo? SR: Oasis Dig Out your Soul . MG: Girls Aloud. Do you have any famous DJ mates and if so who, and what are they really like? Go on you can tell us... SR: None whatsoever. MG: Nope. Stuff Ministry and all that crap, what is really the best club in the world? SR: I don't know really. Fuse was always good! MG: Club 18-30. Your criminal record - what's the worst piece of music ever played out? SR: Probably something by B12... ha ha ha. MG: Tom Jones, It's Not Unusual. Best DJ in the world and why? SR: Mike. MG: Tony Blackburn. And when will we see you again in Ireland then? SR: As soon as we get some gigs... can you help us? MG: Well, we have only ever played in Ireland once, but it was very good so we would be very happy to go back as soon as we are invited. Right, give us your current top 5...
