Ecker take over the Front Page this Saturday (September 26th) featuring special guest Space Dimension Controller (aka Jack Hamill) who has just been signed to Planet Mu sister-laebl Tippex Records. Expect some quality experimental electro and leftfield electronica. Support on tbhie night comes from Ecker residents Terry Keeley, De-Twist and T-Polar aka Gary Spence who met up recently with the ATL autobot for a nice cup of tea...

ATL: Hi, and how the hell are you today?
Gary: Hi, im not too bad.

ATL: Let's get started then. First musical memory?
Gary: Hmm hard to say, prob Leonard Cohen or something similar on my mum's hifi.

ATL: Have you ever played Ireland and if so where, when and how was it for you?
Gary: Yeah all over Belfast, Dublin and Rathlin a few times and Derry once. It can fluctuate between brilliant and mediocre depending. It's better these days I would say.

ATL: Now, what prompted you to get fully involved in dance music?
Gary: Probably listening to the Orb and thinking I might be able to do that if I had a synth and sequencer. I always wanted to make music but being in a band wasn't so appealing.

ATL: What's been your best clubbing experience?
Gary: Probably playing at the love parade in 2006 - more for the scale and atmosphere than the music though.

ATL: We regret to inform you that your house is on fire, you can only carry one piece of vinyl or CD out, what will it be?
Gary: My Steve Hillage green album, failing that I'd just lift my hard drive.

ATL: For non dance music, what are you listening to at the mo?
Gary: Brian Jonestown, AC Newman, Deus.

ATL: So, do you have any famous DJ mates and if so, who, and what are they really like? Go on you can tell us...
Gary: I spose Barry Lynn (Boxcutter) would be the most successful. He's a very smart and talented guy.

ATL: What is really the best club in the world?
Gary: Hard to say really, I'll say Ecker for now. Anything that's a little bit different and doesn't play bland music.

ATL: Your criminal record - whats the worst piece of music ever played out?
Gary: Either playing the full version of Coil Brocolli - still not sure why I did. Not a song to be played out. I'm sure I've dropped a good few house stinkers in my time too.

ATL: Who is the best DJ in the world and why?
Gary: I don't know, I'm not sure such a thing exists. Anyone who mixes a few styles and keeps it interesting.

ATL: And when will we see you again then?
Gary: I'll be at Ecker on 26th Sept (Front Page, Belfast) and Acroplane 4th Oct (Black box, Belfast).

ATL: Now before you go, give us Ecker DJ's top five tunes of the moment?
