Stefan Goldmann
We've been wetting ourselves over his incredible new album here at ATL HQ. It's called 'The Transitory State' and ATL caught up with the master of the deep Stefan Goldmann for a quick chat...

ATL: Hi, and how the hell are you today?
Going out for a beer in the park in a minute - can't complain.

ATL: Let's get started then. First musical memory?
Probably Tchaikovsky's "Peter and the Wolf".

ATL: Have you ever played Ireland and if so where, when and how was it for you?
Unfortunately not yet! Or does Brooklyn count?

ATL: Hmmm..., don't think so. Now, what prompted you to get fully involved in dance music?
The girls on the dancefloor.

ATL: What's been your best clubbing experience?
Panorama Bar Berlin, every single time!

ATL: For non dance music, what are you listening to at the mo?
John Zorn, Fred Frith - all the NY downtown stuff. Also just got hold of the complete works of Ligeti - awesome!

ATL: So, do you have any famous DJ mates and if so, who, and what are they really like? Go on you can tell us...
It's all about privacy. The great thing about dance music is it's less about egos than about... music! Try that with Rock!

ATL: What is really the best club in the world?
Will it be a boring answer if I say Panorama Bar? But there are plenty of great clubs... like, Garito in Palma de Mallorca, Subclub in Glasgow, Fabric's Room 1, Loft in Barcelona, New York's The Yard... It's maybe more about the people than the place. I've had great parties in places you've never heard of, too. Ever heard of Teramo?

ATL: We couldn't possibly comment. Onto your criminal record - what's the worst piece of music ever played out?
Hmm... must have been something by Ofra Haza.

ATL: Who is the best DJ in the world and why?
Theo Parrish. I heard him in Berlin and he managed to get people go nuts to Weather Report!

ATL: And when will we see you again then?
Whenever you manage to book me.

ATL : Ok, giz your top five tunes and bugger off...
