The Glimmers
They've just released their latest album 'Gee Gee Fazzi' free on the cover of DJ Mag as well as giving it away at all the gigs recently. Why? You might be forgiven for assuming it's because it's a load of old bolls, but thankfully we know different - it's one of the funkiest disco punk house records you'll hear all year and we're big fans. Dave Glimmer from The Glimmers chats to the ATL Q&A.

Hi, and how the hell are you today?
I'm fine, thank you.

Let's get started then. First musical memories?
Elvis Presley, Claude Francois, Grease, Ghostbusters..

Ever played Ireland and if so where, when and how was it for you?
We've been already a few times in Ireland, we did 110th Street with Cian and Cyril in Galway, I think about 5 times.amazing parties ! And we did Backlash in Dublin, and yeah, that's right, Electric Picnic in 2007 as well.

What prompted you to get fully involved in dance music?
Beat Street, Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc, Graffitti, Breakdance, Scratching..

Last piece vinyl you bought and is it going to finally pop it's wee plastic clogs soon?
Last pieces of vinyl I bought are The Salmon Dance by the Chemical Brothers (our own remix on a promo 12", white label, for my archives) and also a bootleg of that same remix, with on the flip side Justice's D.A.N.C.E. in an unreleased remix by Stewart Price. Our first bootleg with own material which we ourselves have not pressed!

Best clubbing experience?
'Boccaccio Life' in Belgium, about 20 years ago. I was very young, and the experience I had over there was incredible. There was about 2000 people on a Sunday night, and everybody was going mental on New Beat and the first Acid House tunes. Then I knew certainly that I wanted to become what I am now..

Your house is on fire, you can only carry one piece of vinyl or CD out, what will it be?
Beggars Banquet by the Stones. On vinyl!

Non-dance music, what are you listening to at the mo?
Radiohead's In Rainbows.. (Like a lot of other people I guess..)

Do you have any famous DJ mates and if so who, and what are they really like? Go on you can tell us..
We know too many of them, and they all think about one thing, money!

Stuff Ministry and all that crap, what is really the best club in the world?
Optimo Espacio in Glasgow. Every Sunday. Check it out.

You criminal record - whats the worst piece of music you ever played out?
Recently 'Quiereme Mucho' by Julio Iglesias in a Spanish Club. Saw some strange looks..

Best DJ in the world and why?
There's a few good ones, but all time hero must be Harvey, because he only thinks about one thing, music.

And when will we see you again then?
We're coming to Galway (again) to play at Cuba. A club we did not play before. April the 12th.
