Mango is the name of the brand new artist album from Berlin's Sascha Funke forthcoming on Bpitch Control, to kick start 2008 in fine style. While some of our questions may have got lost in translation, Herr Funke tells us how it is... ATL: Hi, and how the hell are you today? Fine thanks. ATL: Let's get started then. First musical memory? I listened all the time to popmusic in the Westberlin radio. First big memory was Pet Shop Boys. ATL: Ever played Ireland and if so where, when and how was it for you? Unfortunately never. ATL: What prompted you to get fully involved in dance music? During the late 80s and early 90s i discovered more and more dance pop, like Technotronic, KLF or Inner City, from that point it was not longer far to techno music, lets say i had my first Summer of love in 92:) ATL: Last piece vinyl you bought and is it going to finally pop its wee plastic clogs soon? Don't understand. ATL: Never worry. Best clubbing experience? E-werk in Berlin during the 90's. It was like a Cathedral and the parties were always until next day afternoon. It's the best club ever. ATL: Your house is on fire, you can only carry one piece of vinyl or CD out, what will it be? I'll grab my iPod. ATL: Non-dance music, what are you listening to at the mo? Stars, Patrick Wolf, Rufus Wainwrght, and still a lot of British guitar music from the 80s and early 90s. ATL: Do you have any famous DJ mates and if so who, and what are they really like? Go on you can tell us... No comment ;) ATL: Stuff Ministry and all that crap, what is really the best club in the world? At the moment Berghain and Watergate in Berlin. ATL: Your criminal record - what's the worst piece of music ever played out? Euromasters - Alles naar de kl--te. ATL: Best DJ in the world and why? Tobias Thomas, every summer he plays the soundtrack of the summer. ATL: And when will we see you again then? Hopefully this year, I'm sure ;) | ||
