Gui Boratto
The South American wonderkid is just about to release his first mix compilation 'Addicted Volume 2' on Platipus Records, plus he makes his debut Irish appearance at Remedy at The Tivoli in Dublin this Sunday October 28th alongside M.A.N.D.Y and Thomas Schumacher. Gui Boratto spills the beans...

ATL: Hi, and how the hell are you today?
GB: I'm fine thanks. In Strasbourg now, drinking some good wines and enjoying small cities in Alsácia.

Let's get started then. First musical memory?
Well, I think it was with my grandfather. He was a Maestro and used to play piano, violin and clarinet.

Ever played Ireland and if so where, when and how was it for you?
Never. Actually, never been there. Super excited. My close friend Anderson Noise, a Brazilian pioneer techno DJ told me it is such a special crowd. Really excited to play there.

What prompted you to get fully involved in dance music?
I think it was back in 1986 when I first listened to some Kraftwerk, Yazoo, Depeche Mode, among other talents.

Best clubbing experience?
Hard to define. Depends. DC-10 was amazing. Also Panorama Bar in Berlin. But I will never forget when I played at Eleven, in Amsterdam, and at D-EDGE, in Sao Paulo, when I did a "Chromophobia" Release party, broadcast over the internet for the rest of the world and another club in SP called The Clash.

Your house is on fire, you can only carry one piece of vinyl or CD out, what will it be?
I'll take my computer. I can download everything with that... hehehe...

Non dance music, what are you listening to at the mo?
Klaxons, Echo & The Bunnymen, Sade, Foo Fighters among others.

Do you have any famous DJ mates and if so who, and what are they really like? Go on you can tell us...
I know many DJs. In Brazil, Anderson Noise, Mau Mau, Dj Marky... Europeans, Martin Eyerer, Phonique, Michael Mayer, Superpitcher, well... the list is super extensive.

Stuff Ministry and all that crap, what is really the best club in the world?
In my opinion, I think is D-EDGE, but lately, I had some really amazing gigs at The Clash club, also in SP-Brazil, really close from D-EDE.

Your criminal record - whats the worst piece of music ever played out?
I'm not a DJ, but I really hated all old techno-loops...

Best DJ in the world and why?
I don't know. I'm not GOD or a Judge to say who is the worst.

And when will we see you again then?
In Dublin, next week, for sure.

Right, gis your current top 5 and then bugger of out of it we have work to do y'know...
I think my top 5 now is:
Supermayer - Cocktails for Two
Gui Boratto - Tales From The Lab (Part I & II)
Marc Romboy vs. Gui Boratto - Eurasia
Klaxons - Golden Skans
Dubfire - Ribcage
