Gig Guide Melting Pot feat. Underscore Orkestra, The Sons of Robert Mitchum, Katie And The Carnival, DJ Venus Rollergirl
Love Music Hate Racism has announced a new and unique night for the people of Belfast. The Melting Pot is a monthly live music and club night which aims to satisfy music lovers with a thirst for variety and a love for diversity. Celebrating and combining varieties of music such as afro beat, reggae, soul, funk, music not belonging to or affiliated with a major record company, rock, roots, punk, dance, dubstep, dancehall, hip hop, bangra, gypsy, Balkan, jazz, and swing, the list goes on. The Melting Pot will launch on Thursday 11th June at The Menagerie with a band called Underscore Orkestra all the way from Portland Oregon USA. Fusing Klezmar, Balkan, Gypsy, Jazz and Swing, Underscore Orkestra are a combination of musicians from a variety of musical disciplines and cultural backgrounds. They have toured Western America, Mexico and Guatemala and this will be their first time in Belfast. Also on the bill are local band The Sons of Robert Mitchum. The music is dark with undertones of Tom Waits and Nick Cave, and fuelled by Whiskey and Red Wine. A must see for anyone with a taste for the sinister. Kicking things off in the live department are Katie and The Carnival, an interesting and theatrical band with a weakness for the whimsical and a knack for intrigue. A carnival of sounds and a carnival of colour all round. Resident DJs Venus Rollergirl and Charlotte will provide the tie that binds the night, Venus with her intelligent, professional, and passionate fusion of beats from dubstep to reggae, and Charlotte with a variety of interesting tracks. 9pm £4 Gig Details Related Links
