Green Balloon Club

A week of free events to encourage young children and their families to do one thing for nature during the school holidays. Events will be held across the country from 27 July to 2 August.

From story telling involving nature to cake-baking for the birds and planting for butterflies, there's something near you.  Events are run by a range of BBC Breathing Places partners including libraries and local authorities.

To find out what else is happening in your area during Green Balloon Club Week go to the Breathing Places  website where you will find details of free activity sheets as well as Green Star certificates which will be available to download in the lead up to the week of events.


Family Camp Out
25 - 26 July 2009, Saturday evening - Sunday morning at Cowpark Pond
Family event  - spend the night in the woods with the Countryside Ranger Service.
                 
Journey to the Centre of the Mud, Montrose Basin Local Nature Reserve
26 July, 1000 – 1430 
Guided walk from the west side of the reserve, heading out to as close to the centre of the mud as we can get. 

Hunting Butterflies, Crombie Country Park
26 July, 1400 – 1500
As you explore areas of the Park with the help of Countryside Rangers, you should be able to catch and identify some of our native butterflies.

Designer homes for bugs and beasts at Abriachan Forest Trust outdoor classroom

Go Wild in the Woods on Wednesdays at Foggieton Wood

Every Wednesday morning throughout the summer holidays there will be events for children aged three to seven in the woods.

Every Wednesday afternoon throughout the summer holidays there will be events for children aged seven to twelve in the woods.

Bug Idol! in Aden Country Park

Come and join in the search amongst some of the smallest residents in Aden Country Park for that special minibeast, which you think has the 'X Factor'! Look in the water, up a tree, under a stone and in the air - minibeasts are everywhere!
