| The
Bandits. A six-strong crew of off-beat rhythms, crazy sounds and the
latest in a wave of Scousers to seize the music industrys attention.
Going
by the promo picture for the tour, youd expect a group of
cowboys to stroll on out in Stetsons, spurred boots and revolving
muskets in hand.
Needless
to say, that isnt the case! Instead, 20-something fellas in
tracky tops and sneakers take to the stage, bounce up and down and
pick up their weapon of choice.
That
being two guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals - but thats
all they need and its by far enough!
While
this band may be just another sea shanty group in their home-town,
throughout the rest of the country theyre as fresh as a packet
of foiled crisps.
Weve
heard a lot of shouting from the Liver city recently, and until
now The Coral have been the only band to emerge with any real answers.
But
The Bandits are following closely behind in their tour bus, trekking
along every M road to prove their point.
John
Bandit, gravelly tones and crazy chicken moves, stares to the sky,
eyes closed and opens his lungs with full thrust.
All
around the band are going ape, abusing instruments and enjoying
every minute of it.
Gary
Bandit scratches the six strings of his guitar, Scot Bandit bobs
along to his bass lines - always with the cheekiest of grins plastered
across his face.
Swee
Bandit smacks two shades of sound out of his drum kit, while Tony
Bandit (keys) and Richie Bandit (lead guitar), add the sweet melodic
touches of class to each song.
With
no messing, the band get recent double A-side track, On My Way out
of the way at the start, and its fellow track, Once Upon A Time
follows later in the set.
We
also get to hear Take The Road, Free Me Rain and Take It And Run,
which will probably end up on this Autumns debut album.
Its
all delivered with impeccable brilliance, sweat pouring as they
belt out each number.
Theres
shades of The Doors, Keith Moon drumming and Beatles reverse lead
guitar circa Abbey Road.
If
youre going to start nicking, who better from than the best!
The Bandits might have just become the countrys most wanted.
But for brilliance, not plagiary.
