‘They make everything one size smaller in the UK than they do the States - if ya know what I mean!!!’

The groins are grinding, shoes shuffling and eyes winking at the women in the audience.

Kool And The Gang have already treated everyone to live versions of Fresh, Jungle Boogie, Cherish, Ooh La,La,La and loads more, and are now grooving through a rendition of Ladies Night.

That’s not sweat pouring from the bodies of ‘the Gang. It’s testosterone! Smoothing their wicked way by picking out the sexy ladies to deliver the lyrics to, hand in hand.

This performance at Chicago’s is one of only five in the country, but that doesn’t mean there’s a lack of demand for Kool and co.

Busy all the way up until the turkey’s roasting at Christmas, the demand to see the band is as strong as ever - and across the world too.

It’s not all fortysomethings reliving their 80s youth either. But that’s not to say they aren’t present.

Still sporting original perms - if a slightly solution worn - shoulder pads and fashion police outfits, the moves are weaved out on the dance floor with precise perfection.

Mixed sporadically are the young’ens who've grown up on a diet of either their parents' record collections, Pulp Fiction or Best of the 80s compilation CDs.

They too are loving it. So by the time Celebration is in full swing for the grand finale, beer’s being spilt, bodies are bumping together and throats are being tested to the max.

The full 12 members on stage are shining with perspiration after giving every last drop of energy. Of course the younger, newer members have a little more spring in their step.

But Kool himself, bass strapped on, faces being pulled to the music, is still shaking his funky thang right until the lights go down.

And the other original gang are fit enough to do rounds with Lennox Lewis too!

They’ve been called the original funk soul brothers and it’s only after a 30 year career you can BE this good, reliving a revival or not!
