Castle Ashby grounds
Earl Compton's home near Northampton is so romantic that David Seaman and Will Carling chose it for their weddings - and Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman stayed there. OK, so not all the relationships worked out - but a stroll through the grounds will definitely get the romantic juices flowing.

Badby Woods

These woods near Daventry are some of the finest in the county. What better way to mark Valentine's Day than a romantic walk beneath the trees?

Stoke Bruerne
The Grand Union canal passes through this South Northants village. There are plenty of places to have a quiet drink or meal. You could even browse around the canal museum, but you have to walk down the towpath to Blisworth tunnel - and even take a romantic narrowboat cruise.

Abington Park

It's probably Northampton's most beautiful park - and it's got everything: huge trees, open spaces, a lake and even an aviary.

Hall Park, Rushden
H.E. Bates set part of his novel Love for Lydia in Hall Park. The Elizabethan hall can be hired for weddings and receptions. Traditional English woods circle the park making it a tranquil and romantic place to spend a Valentine's Day afternoon.

Sywell Aerodrome
OK, so the airfield might not be the most attractive place in the county - but why not join treat your loved one to a flight from Sywell to London...Edinburgh...or even Paris.

Borough Hill

From the top of Borough Hill, you can see the whole of Daventry and the surrounding country laid out. Stand there, holding hands, gazing into your future.

Franklins Gardens
Let's hope both of you are rugby fans, because on Valentine's Day evening, England 'A' are playing France 'A' at Franklins Gardens. Can you imagine seeing your declaration of love appearing on the big scoreboard?

Harringworth viaduct

Underneath the arches, down paradise way...sit there watching the trains thunder overhead and dream of the days of steam.

Rothersthorpe services
What's this? The M1 services at junction 15a? Well, believe it or not, this is the location for many a romantic encounter. It's an ideal neutral territory - in the full view of the public - for that first meeting. Love over a latte - that's true romance.
