Celebrating Pentecost at Abington park

Pentecost in the Park

Over 20 churches across Northamptonshire joined forces to celebrate Pentecost in Abington park.

The event took place on Sunday 31st of May at Abington park bandstand.

This was an expansion to the service that they have held over the last four years with over six hours of activities from 12 noon to 6pm.

During the afternoon a multi-lingual programme of choirs and bands filled the park with worship as local believers from many nations celebrated. There were stalls, face painting and a climbing wall.

At 3.00pm the festival linked Northampton to the Global Day of Prayer. This wave of prayer circled the globe as hundreds of millions of Christians in almost every nation took part in the largest prayer gathering on earth.

Lewis Houston organiser and member of Hope Northants Committee, said "We had around a thousand people in the park at any one time. There were songs in Lithuanian, Russian, Swahili and English of course as singing groups from local churches took part in the afternoon programme."

The Christian Motorcycle Association were also at the event. CMA are the equivalent of Hell's Angels and had some of their bikes with them. Members of the group also gave testament of their faith.
