Everyone needs a hero

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes but for twenty year old Sam Johnston from Corby it comes in the shape of Bernie Keith.

After hearing an interview on Bern's show with Steve Howe, organiser of the Rotary race day for Macmillan cancer support and the local air ambulance, Sam Johnston decided he wanted to do something to raise money for charity.

'I have been very poorly all this year. But now I feel better, I wanted to race and help other poorly people.' he said.

Lisa Donald from Macmillan cancer support says 'it's a fabulous family day and there'll be a 10k individual run, a 10k team challenge - like a big relay race - and a 200m children's' race that Sam's going to take part in'.

So far Sam has raised around three hundred pounds and will be racing with Bernie on the day to raise as much cash as possible.

The event takes place on Sunday 31st May at the Racecourse in Northampton and in a fit of pique Bernie agreed to run it with him, what more excuse do you need to go?

If you would like to get involved call organiser Steve Howe on 07702 107 639 .
