What is Desert Island Dishes?

Drivetime's Richard and Annabel bring you their unadulterated excuse to talk FOOD.

Now, we'd like to go into all sorts of valid reasons for doing this - to inspire listeners to cook something different for supper, to introduce people to the culinary delights that Northamptonshire has to offer, to bring healthy food to the forefront of our minds, to promote the efforts of food producers in Northamptonshire.

But, while of course these factors did influence our choosing the feature, the real reason is far more simple - we love to eat.

And it is from this romance with food that Desert Island Dishes was born. The name was Richard's creation - Annabel had wanted to call it Death Row Meal but it was deemed to be a little too macabre for the radio.

So every weekday at 5.50pm we speak to someone about their dream meal - the two dishes that float their boat above anything else.

If you'd like to take part and choose your Desert Island Dishes, get in touch through the link below:

The rules are simple - you're allowed two dishes, a starter and a main or a main and a pudding (so the wild and irreverent diners among you can't choose two starters). Then you're asked to choose the drink that you'd like to accompany the treat.
