Everyone gets involved in the Games

Northamptonshire Youth Games

Youngsters from across Northamptonshire have taken to track and field as part of the 9th Youth Games.

The annual event was held at Kettering Leisure Village and part of the theme was focused on the 2012 Olympic games in London.

BBC Radio Northampton reporter Suki Somal put on her running shoes to find out more and spoke to some of the youngsters taking part:

As well as the usual sports and activities, youngsters were able to meet future athletes who are hoping to take part in next years Olympic games in Bejing, and of course in London in 2012.

The ceremony was opened by a former Olympic competitor and Northampton lad, Derek Redmond.

He took part in the 400 metres at Barcelona.
