The vivid costumes of the '06 Carnival

The Northampton Carnival 2007

This years Northampton Carnival is set to take place over the three days of 8th, 9th and 10th June 2007, with a theme of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.

Friday, 8th June

It will initially start on Friday, 8th June in Northampton's Market Square with lots of noise and cultural sounds from around the town. Steel pans, bands, Irish music, singing, colourful costumes and dancing with provide a focal point for uniting communities in Northampton in preparation for the event itself. Everybody is welcome to come along and see what all the noise is all about in the evening and experience Northampton's carnival atmosphere.

Saturday, 9th June

The carnival itself is set to take place on Saturday, 8th June. The colourful parade is set to leave from Delapre Park in the early afternoon heading towards the town centre, around the town in a winding route and back to Delapre Park to conclude the procession.

It's then off to the Royal & Derngate to witness the performance of a great jazz band that are coming direct from New Orleans in America for the amazing after show party.

Sunday, 10th June

Sunday's events will also conclude in the Market Square with 'Chill Down Sunday.' The market will be full for gospel singing, dancing, light music, ambiance and low key entertainment that only Northampton's communities know how to put on. With crowds expected to be greater than those of last year, it's surely set to be a lively and colourful carnival experience.
