This is one of two plots for films that have been drawn up by young people. About the projectYoung people from Northampton, UK and Iringa, Tanzania are making movies about their lives. The Usikike: Be Heard project is exploring the similarities and differences of the lives of the young people, their experiences and cultures. Throughout the project, both sets of young people - in Northampton and Iringa - are keeping blogs and audio/video diaries for this website. ![]() Zainabu with the camera Gaudiosa, Teckla, Mary, Regina, Zainabu and Rehema from the Kiwohede Centre in Iringa, Tanzania, have come up with a film idea. Kiwohede is an organization in Tanzania that provides support for girls who have escaped risky or abusive situations at home. One risky situation is being employed as a domestic worker - young girls who do this work are sometimes called ‘house girls’. Usikike: Kiwohede group![]() Angel and Hassan Angel, Rotha, Charles, Allen, Abu and Hassan from the Folk Development College in Iringa have produced a screenplay for their short film. The film centres around the issue of employment and the difficulties that young people face as they leave school and start trying to earn money. Usikike: FDC Group![]() Experiments with a camera In Northampton, members of the Royal & Derngate's On The Edge youth theatre company have been trying out the camera they'll use to make their movie. They've been exploring ways to capture on video the scenes in their Truth or Dare story.
