A tick well done in Corby

The latest school league tables have rewarded the only top five state school place to Brooke Weston City Technology College in Corby.

BBC Radio Northampton's Breakfast presenter Anna Murby spoke to Peter Simpson, the Head of Brooke Weston City Technology College about his delight at the college's achievement:

The school league tables themselves show the number of students who have received five GCSE, A to C grades.

For the first time, the results will introduce a Gold Standard for schools whose students have five or more good GCSEs or the equivalent.

In addition to that, the background of pupils has also been taken into consideration, namely those students who typically do badly, such as boys, certain ethnic minorities, and those from poor homes.

Wellingborough School came top of the list in the league tables for Northamptonshire, followed by three other private schools.
