Spencer set to return

Northampton Saints' fly-half Carlos Spencer will return to action at Franklin's Gardens on Saturday, 28th October following a six-week absence.

Spencer last played at Saints' home ground against Bath on 16th September. The former All Black has since played in away games against Gloucester and Newport-Gwent Dragons but his boots have not touched home soil due to a groin strain and a one-week suspension.

A number of welcome returns

Saturday's Heineken Cup pool six game against Border Reivers should also see the return of winger Ben Cohen, who is recovering from a sore collarbone, and Scotland wing Sean Lamont is also recovering swiftly from a muscular injury in his torso.

"I am sure all our supporters are looking forward to Carlos getting his first run out in the Heineken Cup..."
Head coach Paul Grayson.

Locks Damien Browne (ankle) and David Gerard (finger) are also making good progress and are expected to feature in the weekend's game, but centre David Quinlan is a doubt with a sore knee and prop Pat Barnard is still receiving medical treatment for an infected ear.

Head coach Paul Grayson said: "I am sure all our supporters are looking forward to Carlos getting his first run out in the Heineken Cup and I know he cannot wait to get back on home soil.

"We are pleased to welcome him and Ben back to what is a very important game for the club."
