The Delta State - The Delta State

Damn it's frustrating. Like waiting for Christmas, there's a gut-feeling brimming with expectation and promise. But unlike Santa, this just hasn't arrived.

The Delta State are amazing, it's hard to deny. And with this new eponymous EP all six tracks stand up for the count.

The bluesy-rock would fit alongside any PJ Harvey, BRMC or The Kills track seamlessly. Whoever thought 'whiney' vocals could be so redeeming?

Yet despite clear potential, the four-piece are still to kick it into top gear.

A name change some 12 months ago was meant to hail a new start, but even this has failed to insert the required drive.

Yeah, it's a slice of tough love, and a little tongue-lashing shouldn't reflect on their quality songwriting. This EP is worthy of all the attention it gets.

It's just down to the band to crank it up a notch and truly blow us all away.
