Woodford Halse awarded

By Dom Murphy.
Woodford Halse School have been voted Charter Standard Development School of the Year by the Northants FA, making them officially the best school in the county for the provision of football.

The award was presented in school assembly by Jamie Leeson from Northants FA. The school has now been put forward for the East Midlands CSD schools' award.

The girls' league has been awarded a £400 development grant by Northants FA, and there will be a meeting soon between the schools to decide how to spend the money. The favourite suggestion at the moment seems to be to invest in some futsal equipment for each school in the league.

The strength of the league was demonstrated when Woodford and Badby schools finished in first and second places in the Daventry District Schools' tournament, organised by Northampton Town's Cobllers in the Community.

Woodford's first team, the Woodford Belles, were unbeaten, and Badby's only loss was to Woodford 1-0 in a pulsating end-to-end match. Woodford's "B" team, Woodford Vixens, did remarkably well to finish fifth. Woodford Belles go on to represent the district in the county youth games at Kettering.
