Pets' Corner

Get pics of your furry friends on Planet Bern with Pets' Corner...

I used to have pets when I was a kid; a rabbit called Percy, a tortoise called Monty, budgies called Billy and Bluecheeks, a constant stream of hamsters; the last of which was called Lucky which was unfortunate as I killed it by accidentally running it over with my Tonka toy.

But I've not had any as an adult. Mainly because, as an adult, your mum is no longer around to clean out its hutch or empty its litter tray when you're too busy with homework which you've miraculously discovered you have to complete right now else you'll get a black mark.

So I have no pets at present. I have Swampy, but he's not really a pet…although he is house-trained. And he can do that remarkable thing with his tongue that only dogs do…and he occasional humps the legs of guests if he gets bored. But, other than that, I have no pets. Unlike my listeners.

Pogle

Zoe's Pogle

It was Zoe, my much-loved Soft Cell fan of a listener, who sent me the first picture. It’s of her lovely whippet Pogle (also called Little Willie for reasons best-known to herself), dressed up to the nines for a Christmas card.

I then thought how nice it would be to create a picture gallery of your pets, so I could – almost by default - become a virtual pet owner and not have the unnecessary hassle of vets’ fees to contend with.

So send your photos of your pets to bernie.keith@bbc.co.uk with a little bit about them and we'll show off Northamptonshire's finest to the worldwide web community!

Happy browsing, and please: don't feed the animals!
