Anna Murby

Anna Murby

Anna Murby presents the Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Northampton from 6am to 8am, Monday to Friday.

Born in Northampton General Hospital, Anna has spent all her life in Northamptonshire, firstly in a small village called Kislingbury during her childhood years, then later in Brackley.

Anna attended Kislingbury Primary School, followed by five years at Campion School, Bugbrooke, before she was lucky enough to get a joint musical scholarship with her twin sister Vanessa, to Uppingham in Rutland, where they spent the sixth form.

After finishing her education, Anna’s first job was working at BBC Radio Northampton, making the tea for the Breakfast Show team and helping out with phone answering duties. At the time, there was no public transport from where Anna lived, so her Dad had to drive Anna into work each morning - getting up at 5.30am!

Onwards and upwards

From answering phones, Anna graduated onto going out and about for the Breakfast Show, with an old-style reel-to-reel tape recorder - which was carried with a leather strap that rubbed a sore and unsightly groove in your shoulder! This in turn led onto providing inserts into programmes with the radio car and doing the odd stand-in presenting slot.

Anna was then asked to take over presenting the afternoon show on BBC Radio Northampton, and hasn't looked back since - presenting the show for the last nine  years.

Away from work, Anna's great love is rugby. Once a Northampton Saints stalwart, she can now be found rooting for her home club in Brackley, which essentially involves getting very wet on the touchline watching her friends play in the mud!

Anna also enjoys music, singing in a choir and food!

The spud-tacular Amy Winehouse

The spud-tacular Amy Winehouse

Youngsters from Northamptonshire have been invited to show off their imaginative skills by creating a model using one of the country's best-loved vegetables as part of the International Year of the Potato.

The photo shown here is of 'Amy Winehouse' as created by Anna Murby - with the help of an old pair of black gloves, a few felt tips and an earring stud! Sadly, Anna's too old to enter......!
