A problem for everyone

By Edgeworth from Synergy Forum Northampton
Don't think that HIV/AIDS is only a problem for someone else. It needs to be fought by all of us.

As Kofi Annan, UN Secretary-General, said at a Special Session: "All of us must recognise AIDS as our problem. All of us must make it our priority."

Synergy Forum Northampton (SFN) aims to strive to serve as a facilitator and convener supporting advocacy outreach and building campaign links on HIV and AIDS. For us as a society to fight this epidemic together, without people thinking it's the preserve of certain groups of people in our society and would never happen to them.

We have come to realise that in order to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS there is need to fight all the myths and stigma surrounding it and people have to take personal responsibility in the fight against HIV/AIDS and be accountable.

Join the fight

We at SFN campaign for society to accept that this is our problem and can only be prevented if we all join in the fight.

It is our hope that we all recognise that prevention can be successful if we broaden and strengthen the role of civil society in the response to HIV and AIDS.

SFN is committed to work to fulfil the following: increased prevention campaigns, provide the necessary resources and ensuring care and respect for people living with HIV and AIDS. We are currently supporting Africans living with HIV/AIDS, their families.

Realities

SFN is also campaigning within our community for people to face up to the realities of the disease and how it's affecting the community. SFN aims to increase awareness on HIV/AIDS so we can overcome all the stereotyping around HIV/AIDS.

It's our hope that we can together halt and begin to reserve the spread of HIV/AIDS, for prevention is the mainstay of any effective response.
