Hello
everybody and welcome to the VSO. You are now going to have an insight
into what we are and what we do.
The
first day we met, it was just the English. The Sri Lankans were
due on the next day.
All
of the English people bonded very well with all the judgements passing
very quickly.
It
all started in Harborne, Birmingham, and what a hectic five days
we had. Instense working and intense chilling. No time for sleep
but everybody bonded extremely well.
When
all the Sri Lankans came through the door, the first thought was:
"Oh God! They're early". After that, there was lots of
running around and then we meet them.
Emotions
were everywhere! You are meeting the person who you will live and
work with for six months. I mean, wow!
My
heart was in my feet. I thought: "what if I don't like them?
What if they don't like me?" It was very hard to get your head
round.
For
the next few days, everything for me was weird. I was surrounded
by people who I didn't know or knew if I liked them but had to get
on with them.
Everything
from opening a bag of crisps to explaining that it is exceptable
for women to drink and smoke had to be explained to them.
