The
market town is home to the highly regarded Oundle Public School,
which has buildings dotted throughout the town.
Pupils
walk through the streets as they change lessons, and are regarded
as an integral part of the local community.
Fellow
pupils at the Prince William School helped provide the backing vocals
for the S Club 7 Children in Need fund raising single, Have You
Ever. They were part of the 275,000 pupils who took part in the
2001 event across the country.
Close
by in the village of Ashton, the World Conker Championships takes
place. The title was won by an Oundle resident, 47 year old Neil
Fraser in October 2001.
Four hundred competitors of all ages and sexes competed for five
titles. The championships started in 1965 as an alternative to fishing!
The
Oundle market is full of fresh fruit and vegetables, along with
newly baked bread and cakes.
Despite its traditions, Oundle also has a luxury element. Fairline
Boats and Amps Fine Wines are just two of the local employers who
add an extra touch of class.
