Title - Gay Norfolk

Aims and objectives of the city's LGBs
LGB logo.
The city's Lesbian and Gay Groups: a great place to meet like-minded people.

The three Lesbian, Gay and Bi groups in Norwich have four main spheres of activity:

We are a CAMPAIGNING SOCIETY

We demand total LGB equality NOW! at work, at school, in the family, and in love. We demand respect everywhere, on campuses, in Norwich, in the UK, and Worldwide. Recent campaigns have included a highly successful demo for the repeal of Section 28, where nearly 1000 signatures were collected and non-LGB awareness raised. We also made a collection on World Aids Day and raised over £500 for the Terrence Higgins Trust and Norwich Aids Help-line. Our next big fish is EQUALITY AT WORK, a campaign to introduce pro-active protection of gays at work

We are an INFORMATIVE SOCIETY

Not only do we distribute free sexual health materials and advice, but we also do a monthly newsletter updating you on local and national news. Our 'piece de resistance' is our yearly 'LGB Fresher's Guide to Norwich', an entirely independent review on the gay and gay-friendly pubs, clubs, restaurants, shops and local organisations, as well as sections on live music and current LGB film. We also run a library with over 100 books (and growing) ranging from self-help books to fiction (but no porn!)

We are a SUPPORTIVE SOCIETY

We believe in pulling together to help each other 'out'! Most gay people today will come out in their twenties. We're here to listen and understand, but we operate a complete confidentiality code. None of our members will be 'outed' until they want to be. We are setting up a confidential telephone help-line, run by students for students, called Gayline, which should be 'on air' by October. We also have a men's rep. And a women's rep for one-to-ones if you need them, and each of our institutions operates weekly coffee-drop-ins.

And overall, we are a FUN SOCIETY!

Our parties are the best! From the infamous Icebreaker Disco and our diabolical 80s night, 'It's A Sin', to our yearly Dykes v. Poofs footie match, we welcome everyone to our events.
