Creating opportunities for disabled artists

<<<previous

CREATE!'s project 'Our History', aims to provide a verbal history of disabled people in Norfolk.

Interviews with disabled people from around the county will be published on the internet to reach a wider audience. CREATE! intends to interview older people in to gauge changes in attitudes towards disability over the years.

'Our History' will be particularly significant because there is relatively little to be found in the Norfolk archives about the lives of disabled people.

Recording is due to start this April and there are opportunities for CREATE! members to become involved
in the project.

Ann sums up well the essence of CREATE!: "It is there to tell our stories. For people to talk about their experiences and have them validated within the arts."

CREATE! can be found at: www.vcentre.fsnet.co.uk

Or: The Vauxhall Centre, Johnson Place, Norwich, NR2 2SA

Ann Young can be contacted at: (01603) 626972 which can also be used by fax or minicom. CREATE!'s e-mail address is: create@vcentre.fsnet.co.uk

Creative ID can be contacted at the following address:

Unit 2, Warehouse 2, Scotts Yard, 121 Ber Street, Norwich, NR1 3HA

Or by telephoning Alan Reid on: 07909 647 314
