Animals, celebrities and celebrity dog-trainers working together may sound like a recipe for utter disaster, but seven stars have decided to throw caution to the wind for Children In Need.

Celebrity Dog School is raising money for the appeal and Norfolk's Jake Humphrey needs your help to make sure he wins the show!

CBBC presenter Jake, along with showbiz pals Michelle Ryan and Linda Barker star in this exciting new reality TV programme on BBC ONE along with their well-loved doggy pals.

"They were looking for somebody that young people were going to relate to on the show and they decided to ask me," said Jake.

"I think it's because CBBC made a short promo film about me whilst I was at the Fame Academy. During the film I went back to hang out with my family in Norfolk and that's when Dyliss got in on the act.

"She's a six-year-old chocolate Labrador, but is quite hard to train as she suffers from juvenile arthritis, which means that after 10 minutes or so of training her hips ache a bit so she has to have a rest."

Each of the stars is teamed up with a professional dog-trainer who will give them advice and tips on how to improve their hound's obedience.

"Thankfully they've put me with a trainer called Sarah Fishers," enthused Jake. "She does a thing called Tellington Touch and she immediately knew something was wrong with Dyliss.

"Tellington is a bit like massage for dogs, it doesn't actually train her, but it makes her feel good about being trained."

The goal is for all the dogs to take part in the BBC Children In Need Dog Show on Saturday 15 November.

Professional judges will give their verdict on which one is the best trained dog overall, and viewers can vote throughout the series for their favourite dog.

"The only problem with this show is that it all comes down to the day when we go into the studio," said Jake.

"Dyliss can be brilliant in training, but she's not used to the studio lights and cameras so it's all down to how she is on the day.

"She's a family pet, not a dog who's been trained to the highest level. I still want her to still be that and not as disciplined as a sheep dog or something. Bottom line is though is basically she'll do anything for food, bit like me. [laughs]

"The great thing about this show is that since Dyliss has been a puppy I've always been away from the family home with work, so it's been great to suddenly spend loads of time with her."

The winner of the Celebrity Dog School public vote will be announced on the night of BBC Children In Need.

"I really want people to vote for me and Dyliss. She's a Norfolk dog, she was born in Norfolk, grew up in Norfolk and even the food she eats comes from Diss!

"I'd love the people of Norfolk to get behind us. I just think it would be great for a cheeky kids' TV presenter from Norfolk to beat people like Lynda Barker and Johnny Vaughan.

"Normally it would just never happen, but on an occasion like Children In Need I think it should," added Jake.

To place your vote for Jake and Dyliss call 09011 21 23 04. Calls cost 25p per call, of which 16p goes to Children In Need.
