Make some cool edible Christmas decorations
Have some fun this Christmas and make some edible decorations for the tree. Not only do they look good, they taste good too!

Impress your mates and parents with these cool, tasty Christmas decorations. They're easy to make and are ideal as a Christmas gift for your friends too!

What you will need

Cookie cutters
Rolling pin
Mixing bowl

ig spoon

lat baking trays
Cooling rack
Icing for decoration
Skewer
Cling film
Thin red ribbon

Ingredients

350g plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons ground ginger
100g unsalted butter
185g Demerera sugar
3 tablespoons golden syrup

Instructions

Step 1
Pre-heat oven to 200°C. Grease two baking trays. Sieve flour, baking powder and ginger into a bowl. Cut the butter into small pieces and then rub it into the dry ingredients, until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

  Step 2
Now add the sugar and syrup and mix to a dough. Remove from the bowl and wrap in cling film and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Take the dough from the fridge and put it onto a flat surface and roll it out, making it about half a centimetre thick. Now you can start cutting out the shapes, which need to be placed on the greased baking trays.

Step 4
When you have done this, place the trays into the oven and bake them for 12 minutes. Make sure you ask an adult to help you.
  Step 5
When you take them out of the oven take a skewer and make a little hole at the top of each biscuit. Leave them for two minutes before putting them on the cooling rack

Once they are completely cool you can start decorating them using icing sugar. When the icing sugar is dry, thread some red ribbon through the hole at the top.

Your decorations are now ready to hang onto your Christmas tree!
