Welcome to the state-of-the-art television gallery
in the BBC's multi-million pound headquarters at The Forum in Norwich.
Facing the bank of television monitors, you can
see technical manager Paul Kent towards the left, sitting in front
of the Thomson camera operational control panels and Vinten robotic
camera touchscreen.
Next is the ADB studio lighting desk, then the
Quantel playout screen. To Paul's right, you can view Ben Debuse,
one of the news directors at Look East. He's operating a Grass Valley
Kalypso vision mixer.
The BBC's television news, current affairs and
politics staff in the East joined online and radio colleagues at
The Forum in September 2003. The station contains around 200 video
monitors and some 50 miles of cable!
Most of the television technology was commissioned
for the Norwich studio. It will be piloted in the city before eventually
being rolled out to other BBC centres.
