A market has been held in King's Lynn's Tuesday
Market Place for hundreds of years. Hangings, witch burnings and
the punishment of wrongdoers in the stocks were regular sights here.
These days the ancient Mart is held on the 14th
February. These days the square is used as the site of a fun fair
and a venue for festival events in the summer.
The building with three columns on its facade is
the historic Corn Exchange, which dates back to 1854. A £4.4m
refurbishment of the building was completed in 1996 and it is now
open as an art gallery and venue for varied cultural events.
