June was an exceptionally
sunny month and all the predictions are that July and August are
going to get even hotter!
Getting into skimpy clothes and exposing your skin
when the sun shines may make you feel good but the alarming news
is that over 46,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with skin cancer
each year.

*A little cover up could stop red back syndrome |
Mainly men
A growing proportion of these victims are men who, for some bizarre
reason, regard wearing a sunhat or sunscreen as girly.
Many men who develop skin cancer have never been
abroad, they suffered their life-threatening sunburn here in good
old Blighty.
So whether youre in Britain or the
Bahamas, the message is the same slap on the sunscreen, don
a natty hat, slip into something slinky and protect your peepers
with some sexy shades.
Looking good as the temperature rises has never been easier.
Slap on the Sunscreen
If you are red-headed with a pale or freckly skin that burns easily,
you need an SPF of 20 or over.
Natural blonde or mousey haired folk with a skin which tans only
gradually need an SPF of 15 or over.
Those with dark hair and eyes who tan easily still need a sunscreen
but an SPF of 10 or over should be sufficient.

* Stay cool with matching accessories |
Head for a Hat
Girls have a huge variety of styles to choose from in hot, tropical
colours with bags and sandals to match.
Men can look cool in a canvas beanie-style (à la Liam Gallagher)
choose from plain, stripey or (if youre daring) a flowery
design this is an essential item if you are bald or thinning
on top!
Something Slinky
Most people think of sarongs as the ideal cover and (thanks to the
lovely David Beckham) both sexes can wear them now without feeling
like a pansy.

*Protect essential areas |
However, it is usually the neck and shoulders,
back and chest which suffer most from sunburn, so a slinky shirt
for men (Hawaiian designs are very trendy this season) or a loose
T-shirt dress for women are better options and much more
flattering if you have a bigger than average tummy.
Sexy Shades
Although it is fashionable to wear quite small rectangular or oval
glasses for normal eye-wear at the moment, you need much larger
styles to fully protect the delicate skin around your eyes in summer.
Men can choose from aviator or wraparound styles in black, silver
or bronze, whilst women have lots of oversized styles in pinks,
blues and lilacs to choose from - some decorated with sexy diamanté
stones which glint in the sunshine.

A little overdone perhaps? |
Sit it out?
Alternatively, stay out of the sun altogether and slap on some fake
tan (it no longer makes you look or smell like a tandoori chicken).
Just sit under the shade of a large umbrella with a long, cool drink
and let the others sweat it out while you sit it out.
