Howard Jones - as he is now!

Blickling goes pop

There's another chance to dust down the ra-ra skirts and slogan T-shirts for a parade of pop nostalgia at Blickling Hall. Following on from the sellout success of the stately home's 1980s' concert this summer, fans can go retro again next July.

Pop lovers can let down their bubble perm hair dos and nod their mullets to a swathe of 80s' stars at Blickling Hall next summer.

The north Norfolk stately pile, near Aylsham, will host a line-up of 11 acts from the decade when yuppies, fluorescent towelling socks and Margaret Thatcher ruled.

Kim Wilde, Howard Jones, Paul Young, China Crisis, Curiosity Killed The Cat, Kid Creole And The Coconuts, Nik Kershaw, Heaven 17, The Real Thing, Altered Images and Dr And The Medics fill the line-up.

The concert on Saturday, 19 July, 2008 is the first date to be revealed for next summer's string of picnic-style gigs at the venue.

The taste of nostalgia will mark Blickling Hall's 11th anniversary of staging gigs in its lakeside parklands.

An 1980s' gig was first held this summer with Gloria Gaynor, Bananarama and Toyah just some of the star acts who pulled in the pop fans to ensure the gig was sold out  by the start of the year.

"Since the show, we have been inundated with requests to repeat the show," said promoter David Heartfield.

"So we have decided to go one better and put together 11 acts for one night, which, with three hours of non-stop hits, will be another fantastic night."

Tickets are £37.50 plus booking fee and go on sale at 9am on Friday, 30 November, 2007. Phone Blickling Hall on 0844 800 4308 or call in to pay by cash or cheque (to avoid paying a booking fee).

Tickets will also be available from the National Trust website and Archant's newspaper offices in Norwich, Cromer and Great Yarmouth.
