Suzannah Sorrell takes record title

Norfolk Huskies set world record

Take eight huskies, a deserted Norfolk beach and then head for a world record. That's exactly what Suzannah Sorrell has done. She's now the fastest woman ever on three wheels and 32 legs.

A woman from Norfolk has, with the help of a team of eight huskies, earned herself a place in the Guinness Book Of World Records.

Suzannah Sorrell, 31, from Welbourne and the team of British Siberian Huskies completed 100 meters course across a deserted Holkham beach in 10.65 seconds to secure their place in the famous book.

As with many of the best ideas this one started as a bet, Suzannah was challenged by a bookmakers to break a world record by the end of the year, with the winnings of £3,000 to be split between dog charities of her choice.

She'd planned to break the record on snow, but a mild Norwegian winter meant the record attempt was moved to the more temperate shores of north Norfolk.

On collecting her certificate from an official representative of the Guinness Book, Suzannah was delighted.

"We all grew up with Record Breakers on television as kids, it's just one of those things you never thought you'd do," she said.

Her winnings will go to help charities Sled Dog Welfare, The Great Dane Adoption Society, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and a Norfolk greyhound rescue centre.

Suzannah is hoping to get the huskies involved in another record attempt in the near future.

"I've kind of got a taste for it now, so I'm hoping to go out to the arctic and set another world record over there, it'll be fantastic if we can do that," she said.
