Trevor Woods was little more than a toddler when he moved to north Norfolk in 1977. Happily now settled here as a 30-something, the county's influence on him has been so great, it inspires the majority of his work. But as Trevor admits, it's not necessarily the natural landscape that prompts his work. "All of my work is inspired by good design - be it architecture, objects, or interiors, both modern and old. I like to paint more obscure places, and there's always a blue sky," he said. London skyline

Working in acrylic and ink, Trevor finds endless inspiration in the London skyline. The hussle and bussle of the capital providing a perfect contrast to the tranquility of Norfolk. It's a contrast which has helped Trevor to keep his progressing his work since he began painting seriously five years ago. "My style has developed over the last few years. It started out much more spontaneous with no straight edges and lots more white spaces," he said. "Now it has become much more technical and full of colour," he added. Trevor was recently invited to stage his first solo exhibition outside Norfolk. The display of paintings at The Gallery On The Green in Warlingham, Surrey met with warm reviews. "The response has been very enthusiastic. People are becoming very familiar with my work and it was interesting to hear people's comments when I took part in the Norfolk Open Studios project for the first time this year," he said. "We had over 100 people to the studio during the three weekends and my top-left-hand corner and blue sky seem to have become something of a trademark," he added.
