Norfolk Bands

Pearl make a point.

Pearl

Norwich-based band Pearl are heading into the studio to lay down tracks for their first album, as well as planning gigs around the country.

Pearl are Norwich-based singer Rob Kelly, guitarist Carl Day and new recruit bassist Ed Smith. Rob and Carl originally started writing together in 2001 but the band was put on hold when Carl moved to London for work.

But within a couple of years Carl returned to Thetford and Pearl was formed in December 2003.

Feeling pleased with the quality of the material they were writing, Rob and Carl decided to pursue a full-time career in music and spent the early part of 2004 writing and recording. These tracks were released on their first EP, With You, which was limited to a run of 50 copies.

In May 2004 Pearl began playing a hand-picked selection of acoustic shows in Norwich and London, while continuing to write for their first full-length recording.

After devoting several months to the band, the boys have gone back to work to fund the project which will be released by the end of the year.

So far, Pearl have ten tracks ready for the album, but Rob and Carl are still writing more songs which they hope to include.

For this first record, Pearl have been rehearsing with a variety of local musicians and they will be heading into the studio with a drummer, pianist and female vocalist to fulfil their vision for their as yet untitled album.

It's an exciting time for the band who are hoping to break new ground - they are now looking for a manager to help push the release of their record as well as help secure dates for a national tour.

Send the band an e-mail to info@pearlmusic.co.uk

Steve
Saw Pearl play the Music House. Amazing how two blokes playing acoustically can fill a room with sound. The singer has lungs not unlike many others! Great band.
